Good Morning Devo for 8.19.2021: “Day by Day”

Good morning! In 1865, Karolina Sandell-Berg penned a hymn that reflects well on the verse of the day.

Day by day, and with each passing moment,
Strength I find, to meet my trials here;
Trusting in my Father’s wise bestowment,
I’ve no cause for worry or for fear.
He Whose heart is kind beyond all measure
Gives unto each day what He deems best—
Lovingly, its part of pain and pleasure,
Mingling toil with peace and rest.

Day after day, our Lord bears our burdens out of love for us as His children. He bore the primary burden we had when He paid for our sin and brokenness on the cross of Christ. And day by day, He meets us to help us meet our trials here in our lives.

The threefold salvation we have in our lives is that God saves us from:

  • The penalty of sin (justification)
  • The power of sin (sanctification)
  • The presence of sin (glorification)

As Christians we have been saved, are being saved, and will be saved. And all the while, we remember that God is our salvation! Praise God for His saving work.
