Good morning! We are to do everything in love? Really?

Paul calls us as followers of Jesus to live as Jesus did–selfless, sacrificial, ready to live and tell the truth of God’s design! The previous verse helps us understand even more: “Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.” Paul calls believers to do everything in love by being faithful and alert to all that God calls them to do and be. Do we connect the two?

Sadly, some may interpret this verse as being tolerant of all people and their worldviews and lifestyles–that’s how you love people. Yet, God calls us to speak “the truth in love” (Ephesians 4:15). Truth and love always work together. Wiersbe noted, “Truth without love is brutality, and love without truth is hypocrisy.” May God give us grace to find that balance.

As a follower of Jesus, are you doing everything in love? Are you staying alert, strong, faithful? Ask God to show you the areas that He could graciously work on as He works in you.

If you are not a follower of Jesus, will you see the loving truth that Christ calls us to, rescuing you from your sin and brokenness and to God’s design? Christ suffered the cross and was victorious over death by Him being raised from the dead. Have you known the truthful love (and the loving truth) of Christ?
