Good morning! God is not lax but rather is longsuffering in His work. And part of this work is that He is patient with you. God has a redemptive plan He is working out in the world, and that means He will work it out at just the proper time. Not only does Peter let us know that God is patient in keeping His promise, but Paul notes the patience of God in his letter to the Romans:
Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed.
The apostle Paul, Romans 2:4-5, ESV
As one preacher said many years ago, “There are no empty chairs at the marriage supper of the Lamb.” None of His elect will perish but all will be brought to salvation, sitting as they should in the marriage supper of the Lamb, rejoicing at the grace He bestowed and praising His patience with them.
Are you aware of God’s patience and kindness which gives you room to repent? May God break up our hardened and impenitent hearts so we will see His glory, goodness, faithfulness, and love demonstrated by His Son at the cross and empty tomb.
