Rather Than Looking for the Big Thing, Do the Next Thing to the Glory of God

Often, I hear of those who want to do something big for the glory of God.

Why not simply do the next thing for the glory of God?

If we want to do something big, then we risk waiting that to come along rather than engaging in what is in front of us.

“Whatever you eat, whatever you drink, whatever you do, do to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31). If the next thing in front of you is to eat, then do it to the glory of God! Even if this seems mundane!

Recently, I posted on Facebook:

If God brings someone across your mind…

Pray for them.

Reach out to them.

He may have brought them across your mind for a necessary reason.

How simple this seems, but it’s in this simplicity that God still moves and works.

Jesus Himself said:

“One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.

Luke 16:10, ESV

Let us be faithful with what we have. Let’s do that next thing for the glory of God rather than sitting back waiting for the big thing.
