God Has Taken Every Step Necessary: Good Morning Devotional for 11.4.2021

Good morning! Theologians help us in understanding God’s revelation, breaking this into two categories: general revelation and special revelation. General revelation is God’s created work. Special revelation goes into more detail about the God who is over the general revelation–and we find this in Scripture.

Psalm 19 addresses both. In Psalm 19:1-6, we see how all of creation shows “the glory of God” and “his handiwork” (v. 1). In Psalm 19:7-10, the Psalmist goes into the special revelation of God’s Word. Verses 11-14 outline our proper response.

When it comes to special revelation and knowing (not just knowing about) who God is and what He has done, Jesus Christ is the ultimate special revelation.

Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.

Hebrews 1:1-3

We are in the last days (which are between Christ’s ascension and His return). God has taken every appropriate step in letting us know who He is–through the first creation and through the second creation, through the first Adam to the Second Adam (Romans 5:12-21). Christ is the key to understanding it all.

Will you trust in Christ so you will know not only about the Triune God but also to know Him?
