Today’s Bible Reading from the Five Day Bible Reading Plan: Exodus 32-34, Philippians
One of the most beautiful promoses God provides us is the one He gave to Moses in Exodus 34:6–7:
The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children’s children, to the third and the fourth generation.
These attributes and actions should helps Christians move along in their day-to-day walk. The joy of who God is and what He has done, grounded in His steadfast love and faithfulness, moves us to live a life far removed from unfaithfulness. In fact, the message here is that our disobedience toward God and His Word, having ramifications for those who come after us.
Let us be grateful for God’s amazing love and patience toward us, which gives all of us an opportunity to repent and follow (see Romans 2:4-5). May we respond to His work of grace.
